I'm a fan of 440C or D2 steel blades.

If your into making your own, and need a source for suitable stock. Bedframe rails for boxsprings are a much higher grade steel than you might think, and make better blades than you might expect. Old reel type lawnmower blades are high quality steel also. If your on a low budget, or have no budget to speak of, you can still get a pretty good blade out of them.

No need to divulge your source.

Lord knows D2 is tough, it was considered for manufacturing but for EDC I like more corrosion resistance. S30V - like everything except
