I've used the CCI Blazer aluminum cased rounds...230 grain FMJ with a muzzle velocity of 845fps...it's good practice fodder.

Anyone ever shoot the aluminum cased federal rounds? XDs. 45 just picked some up for $15

It worked great in my XD-s, but the aluminum 9mm was awful in my Walther PPX--several instances of bullet setback, which caused several jams.
I almost bought a couple of boxes at WallyWorld to try in my recently purchased XD45 Tactical but they had Perfecta for a dollar more. Blazer Aluminum has worked well in limited use. The Federal would be worth a try at the price.
