I did some research and last week on impulse I bought an XDs 4.0. I paid about $30.00 more for it than I probably should have. I registered it for Springfield's Gear giveaway and took it to the range Sunday. Any hint of buyer's remorse vanished completely. I looked at S&W M&P Shield 9mm and the new Glock G43 and they just don't compare. I shot my Taurus PT709 Slim, a Shield, and an S&W SD9VE and none of them were anywhere close to the comfort, trigger, and accuracy of the XDs. The SD9VE was a HUGE disappointment after having owned and enjoyed a dozen Sigma. Detestable trigger and accuracy. Pure caa caa.

I've owned an XD9 and an XD45 and didn't care for the high bore axis on either, but I think I will be carrying, enjoying, and depending on the XDs for many years to come. Recommended fully for EDC/CWP.

Suggested upgrade if not already installed, a set of good night sights. Trijicons will allow you to use same sight picture. If you want night sights installed, be sure to find someone who has the correct sight tool to install them.

Incidentally, this is my first post on the forum. I'm kind of new to the semi auto hand gun world. I shot my XDs yesterday and it seemed to hit a bit high ( 4 inches or so at 50 ft. ). Consistent though. Could be my sight picture. I'm sure I need to shoot it plenty more before I start blaming the gun.

So Merry Christmas to me! I got to go buy a new XDs but this time I moved up to the .45. Great guns and so comfortable to carry IWB. Can hardly feel it on my hip.

There is definitely more recoil in the .45 but I didn't feel like it made too big of a difference. I found that I was able to reset on target almost as fast as I could with the 9mm. I have nothing to base that off of other than feel. I will say that after about 100 rounds the aggressive grip on the gun did start to wear on my hands a lot more than the 9mm did. I'm going to put a Talon grip on it because I've heard that it helps a lot. I'm also adding a Pierce Grip to the the 5 round magazine. I did this on the 9mm and it was a great way to get the pinky on the handle without using the extended mag which prints too much in my opinion.
