Finally received my CCW this week and I've been carrying my XDs. Man, words cannot describe how awesome this feeling is and how sweet this gun is to carry.

I'm in TN and it took just shy of 4 weeks to receive the CCW in the mail.

Actually that's pretty quick compared to some states.
Here in S.C. it can take up to 90 days.

I took the CCDW class in January. It took me right at 4 MONTHS to get everything back! But on a side note, Kentucky State Police have a rather large backlog of CCDW applications. And Ky is a very open carry friendly state.

Wmruss, not in Kentucky, it is officially called a Concealed Carry Deadly Weapon (CCDW) Permit... And you aren't being "picky" seems every state has their own unique terminology for these permits.

Oklahoma also has a significant backlog. The number of (in this state, "Handgun License") applications has increased steadily each month since early 2012. I applied for mine the last week of October 2012 and received the license in the mail the first week of December. After consulting friends, I considered 40 to 45 days to be roughly average.

Oddly, the "type" of license depends on the weapon used to qualify on the firing range. If you qualify with a revolver, the license applies ONLY to a revolver. If you qualify with a semi-automatic pistol, the license applies to all handguns (including derringer).

Gotta LOVE Alaska! I only have to get a CCW if I WANT one as I can carry concealed or open ANYWHERE in the state, that a gun is legal( No entity within the state shall pass a law more stringent than the state law) and we are a "CONSTITUTIONAL" carry. There are classes and provisions for CCW that are reciprocal with other states.
