The kukri (alternatively spelled khukri or khukuri) is a curved Nepalese knife, similar to the machete, used as both a tool and a weapon. It is a traditional weapon for the Nepalese people, and also a weapon of choice/side arm for all Nepalese including those serving in different armies around the world...such as the Royal Gurkha Rifles.

The kukri is effective as both a chopping and a slashing weapon. In combat, it is used in two different styles: stabbing with the point, slashing or chopping with the edge. Because the blade bends towards the opponent, the user need not angle the wrist, which makes the kukri more comfortable as a stabbing weapon than other straight-bladed knives. Its heavy blade enables the user to inflict deep wounds and to cut through muscle and bone.
I really like the Kukri's.
While I was with the 25th Infantry Division one of my recon scouts made me a Koa wood scabbard for my Kukri.

The first 2 pics are of a Buffalo skinner I made from a coil spring of a 1987 Mustang. The style is copied from a Green River blade that Buffalo skinners used in the early 1800s. If you look closely you can see the Harmon in this blade. The leather is Horse butt and the scales are 200 year old heart pine flooring.

Pics 3/4 are of a small filet that I purchased and made the sheath for it. It came with a cheap plastic sheath and of course I had to improve on it. The textured leather is Beaver tail.

The last pic is a work in progress. The initial grid, after forging, was done by a 10yo. He got a little wild on the 2X72" belt grinder. I still have to do final grind on it then HT. For 10yo he didn't do to bad.

I love making blades from recycled materials.

And one I am still working on:

I have a pair of these Shooter13. This is the larger of the two. The other one is 1/2 this size. I have yet to find a use for them though, hahaha. I just have them around because they are cool looking.
