The claim - liberal estimate - that "the number of households owning guns has decreased over the past 20 years" is sheer male-bovine excrement.
The number of households willing to respond to those ridiculous, invasive polls (and to publicly admit gun ownership at all) has dropped over that time, yes.
With about 100 million gun owners in this country, and over 300 million guns legally owned, the math here in the real world results in an average of just over 3 guns per owner... a much more reasonable, rational, and sanely realistic conclusion. Which makes me and my three just about average...
