Another executive action by Obama and Holder...

https://www.nraila.org/articles/20150213/batfe-to-ban-common-ar-15-ammo

http://www.atf.gov/sites/default/fi..._primarily_intended_for_sporting_purposes.pdf

BATFE previously declared M855 to be “armor piercing ammunition,” but granted it an exemption as a projectile “primarily intended to be used for sporting purposes.”

Now, however, BATFE says that it will henceforth grant the “sporting purposes” exception to only two categories of projectiles:

Category I: .22 Caliber Projectiles
A .22 caliber projectile that otherwise would be classified as armor piercing ammunition under 18 U.S.C. 921(a)(17)(B) will be considered to be “primarily intended to be used for sporting purposes” under section 921(a)(17)(C) if the projectile weighs 40 grains or less AND is loaded into a rimfire cartridge.

Category II: All Other Caliber Projectiles
Except as provided in Category I (.22 caliber rimfire), projectiles that otherwise would be classified as armor piercing ammunition will be presumed to be “primarily intended to be used for sporting purposes” under section 921(a)(17)(C) if the projectile is loaded into a cartridge for which the only handgun that is readily available in the ordinary channels of commercial trade is a single shot handgun. ATF nevertheless retains the discretion to deny any application for a “sporting purposes” exemption if substantial evidence exists that the ammunition is not primarily intended for such purposes.

BATFE is accepting comments until March 16, 2015 on this indefensible attempt to disrupt ammunition for the most popular rifle in America.

Don't think it will happen, at least I hope not
Personally don't have any 855's but don't think BATF should regulate.
What would be next ?

"The ATF is claiming that SS109/M855 ammunition in these AR-15 pistols is a risk to police officers to justify the ban. That is a bald-faced fabrication. It is quite transparently designed to dry up common and economical ammunition for the more than 5 million owners of AR-15 rifles and carbines."

But would the proposed hypothetical even save lives if it were implemented?

No, it wouldn’t.

It would actually serve to increase the risk to law enforcement officers, by forcing rifle and pistol users alike to return exclusively to the full-metal-jacketed 55-grain M193 round that NATO wanted to get away from in the 1970s with the adoption of the very SS109/M855 cartridge that Obama’s ATF is attempting to ban.

Yes, the proposed ATF ban would return everyone to the round NATO said was too “inhumane” for use against expected waves of Soviet troops because it caused “devastating” wounds. It appears Obama’s ATF cares more about the survival of Soviet infantry than they do American law enforcement officers."

Some good points made...but I feel if the police and govt have it...then I should be able to have it too !!!

( This is why they fear us...the ability to fight back !!! )

This is why I've been buying ammo by the case every month since I retired in 2008 !!

Now I'm way ahead of the ban curve... ;)

Yea...I really don't get the "liberal" way of thinking...really don't !!

I try to see it their way...then say WTH !? Are you kiddin' me...?

Big Bloated Government over regulating all aspects of a self sustaining free market system...

Tax anyone smart enough to turn a dollar to pay for it...overburden the middleclass who work hard and pay their taxes to hold the failing system up...

all the while taking care of a majority of people too lazy to work for it...Print, Borrow, and Spend till the system collapses on itself.

The downfall of every Republic in history...it's not the enemy at the gates...it's the enemy within !!!!

"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." (George Santayana 1863-1952)

...And then we got the would be king socialist in office right now....what a catastrophe !!

Product Information:

This ammo arrived on March 1, 2015, with just 15 days left in the ATF comment period.

It’s an exciting, but long, story of how our guys located this ammo at a defense contractor just after ATF’s announcement on February 16, waited for it to be declared surplus to a DEA contract; then worked hard to get it expedited to our warehouse. It arrived two days before our self-imposed deadline and here it is. Hard to imagine that this may be the last supply of SS109 ammo ever offered to the public.

Aim Straight,
Larry Potterfield
