Greetings.
It'd been nearly 20-years since I had fired a weapon. Wifey was mugged in a parking garage at the mall, and we immediately decided to get our CHL's. I did a lot of consumer research and decided to purchase the XD Mod.2 Subcompact 9mm. I picked it up the week it first arrived at my local shop, and it's been my EDC ever since. The Springfield Gear promotion was also a nice incentive. Other than the Pearce Grip extensions on the magazines, the gun is all original... but I'm ready to start upgrading components.

Finally my point:
I practice and train as often as I can; at least once a month, if not once a week. I just reached the 15,000-round mark and haven't had any issues or malfunctions yet. However, I do have a concern. The guide rod assembly appears to be protruding out of the slide, just below the muzzle. When I field strip the weapon, I try to turn the guide rod assembly clockwise in an attempt to maybe tighten the assembly. It doesn't seem to resolve the issue...

Should this even be a concern? It hasn't noticeably affected the performance, from what I can tell. I'm still turning in 3-in groupings at 10-yds. Just seeing it protruding from the slide, bugs me.

I appreciate any advice or recommendations.
Thank you.
