Oklahoma's struggle...
In last session, University of Oklahoma's president, David Boren, informed the State Legislature of his opposition (along with opposition by the university's administrators and faculty union) to allowing concealed-carry on Oklahoma's college campuses. Boren couched his objections in a large amount of intentionally-deceptive language. I was very disappointed... not by the fact that he flatly lied (I've come to expect that from him...), but that the legislators as a whole meekly accepted his [specifically college-related] anti-gun claims without doing any fact-checking - and they voted accordingly. I expected better from our SUPPOSEDLY intelligent, educated, responsible representatives...
[At least they are supporting a constitutional-carry bill (for open carry only) this session, so there may be some hope for them, after all.]
As Chairman of the county GOP 2nd Amendment Committee, I have repeatedly invited David to a public debate on the issue. However, my offers have thus far been ignored (imagine that!).
