I am a retired Process Control Specialist in power production. I bought my first handgun, a Beretta Nano is 2012. So far 1577 rounds down range. My second gun is a Ruger LCP with a LaserLite. A very reliable 535 rounds shot. My latest is a Springfield XDs.45ACP with a 3.3" barrel. I am very impressed with it although I have not shot it. I have read many glowing range reports on this gun and that is probably the main reason that I bought it.

I am an NRA member and on my first renewal of my LTC (formally called CHL in Texas). My wife is scheduled for an LTC class on April 5th. I love to shoot but my reason for buying these guns is self defense.

Thanks a lot guys. I sure have been anxious to go shoot the new XDs but life got in the way. I bought it on 3/18 and about an hour after I got home with it my wife was in the back yard walking the dog and fell and broke her hip. Long story short, Saturday they operated and replaced the ball on the femur and Sunday I brought her home. She is doing quite well using a walker and still hoping to make the LTC class on the 5th but we will see.

My condolences... I, too, had a delay when I got my latest XD MOd2, but I can assure you that the first time you get to the range will make it all better!

Hope your wife recovers well (and quickly).

Joyce had a very good today, it is her birthday and she had calls from a lot of friends. I'm taking her out to PJ Changs for dinner tonight.

I had a great day today also. I took the little canon to the range today. I am extremely happy with it. Shot a total of 175 rounds. The break down is 25 rounds Winchester 230 gr JHP, 50 Winchester 230 gr Train and Defend, 100 Monarch 230 gr FMJ.

Only a few problems: The last round in a magazine of the Winchester flat nose bullet failed to load. It was stuck against the ramp. I pulled the magazine out and dropped the round. I put it back in the magazine and sling shot it into battery. It shot fine. Only one. I'll polish the ramp. I have had this same thing happen with these flat nose rounds in my LCP. Think I will stay away from them in the future. No problems with the Winchester Personal Protection JHP. The only other problem with the Monarch was 2 rounds failed to fire. I feel certain that this was a problem with the primers because after examining a lot of rounds the dimple on the primers was very good and centered. A quarter rack to cock the gun took care of that. No failures to extract.

The XDs is very accurate and very easy to shoot. The recoil was about the same as my 9mm Nano. Not objectionable in the least. Here are a few photos.

Joyce has bounced back and Tuesday she completed all of her LTC training and range qualification. Online application to Texas DPS completed. Electronic fingerprints completed. All that is left is to wait. I'm very proud of her.:spot:
