Yes if you live there.. my parents live down there and SC does not honor my PA permit and no open carry :'(
I never found a good reason to do it other than showing off or some type of law enforcement.

What's a good reason to open carry besides the above and personally I'd rather have the edge of someone not knowing ?

Looks like for some reason there are many places who don't honor Pa.

Permit(s) Not Honored In:
California, Connecticut, Delaware, Guam, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, New York City, Ohio, Oregon, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Virgin Islands, Washington, American Samoa, District of Columbia, N. Mariana Islands

Could not agree with you more about OC.... I would just like to have a firearm on me when I go out into the swamps.
Absolutely no law against you carrying open in the swamp. I've done it many times here in S.C. Usually a 357.
Just don't stop by the Quik Stop strapped.

Another thankful South Carolinian here!

I never saw OC as being tactically sound either, At least as far as for social defense purposes anyway.

I can see open carrying on a hunt, etc. But OC anywhere else is like saying, "Look at me, you should take me out first!"

At the very least, it deprives you of that all important stealth or element of surprise that concealed carry gives you.

That said, whether a person wants to OC or not, I still don't think that our government should have a dam thing to say about it!

"Shall not be infringed" is plain, simple and should be easy enough to understand even for idiotic politicians!

I enjoyed my time in your state visiting family. Also enjoyed the article in the local paper about your gov. and her Christmas gift. Got my fingers crossed that maybe SC will expand their retroprocity arrangements with other states.

Yeah Gov. Nikki Haley got a Beretta PX4 Storm Compact pistol for Christmas and posted it up on FaceBook to the delight of most. There were a few anti comments, but the majority loved the post. I think it bodes well for gun right in SC, as well as for bringing gun mfgs to our state while they are leaving areas with stricter gun laws.

BTW I own a full size PX4 Storm, and it is an uber reliable, accurate and fun to shoot pistol.
