I have not sent my XDs (.45) back to SA for the recall yet (not discussing why). The pistol is 15 months old and has had over 600 rounds through it. The only modification is the application of Talon rubber grip tape. Before I send it back I wanted to measure the trigger pull force and here are the results:
Method:
Instrument: Mark-10 Force Gauge
Steel 6" J extension
Pistol magazine loaded with 5 rnds of Tipton Snap caps
Force gauge flat on workbench, pistol trigger pushed against J extension
Peak real time tension recorded 15 times, manually ejecting each snap cap, and reloading the magazine & pistol
Results recorded, Averaged, and Standard Deviation in Excel
First 5 results discarded (fine tuned my hand work and position)
Results:
Average: 5.3 LbF
Stdev: 0.17 LbF
Values in order of collection: 5.0, 5.4, 5.4, 5.4, 5.4, 5.4, 5.1, 5.1, 5.2, 5.1
For comparison, my XD-9 (stock with CT Lasergrip) has an Avg of 6.0 LbF & Stdev 0.17 LbF
When I get my XDs back from SA, I'll rerun the test and report the results.
