Mossberg 20 guage...

    LGS owner is a buddy. He's got a Mossberg 20 guage (18.5") he'll give me for next to nothing. Never had a 20. Any thoughts?

    That barrel length suggests home defense, Smaller gauge = less recoil, same ammo is available for most 20 as for 12, and last Mossbergs are generally a reliable inexpensive bread and butter gun. Is this pump, or auto-load?

    For "next to nothing" you can't go wrong. At home defense ranges the 20 will work as well as the 12.

    It's a pump. Very clean. Agreed Art & Callmaker, I'm thinking I like it for home defense. Like I said, he's a friend of mine. I've had the opportunity to handle/shoot a lot of different guns as a result. I love cleaning guns (yeah I said that), so I spend quite a bit of time at his place doing that. I happened to be there when he took the 20 in cheap, so he's passing it on to me if I want it...
