Hi all. I have a used .45 tactical XD that arrived via a gunbroker purchase in generally good shape. It is has a roll pin poking up out of its hole on the top, rear of the slide. None of my 6 other XD's have this symptom. Can I simply lay the bare slide on my workbench and use a flat steel punch to knock it back in? It looks like about 1/32"+ above the slide.

The generic answer is... yes, you CAN, but if the pin has loosened enough to ride up it is likely to do so again (repeatedly) until it finally breaks the lower end. Better approach is to replace the pin, since they are not expensive (just a dollar or two). In my area there are two gunsmiths willing to perform the replacement for ten dollars, so you can likely find an expert to help (if you need it) without breaking the bank.
