That's tough but they did a dumb thing for sure.

More on the story.
Turns out it was an old frag vest not a bulletproof one.
Still, no common sense in either of the two which ended in tragedy.

·I have one of those vests around here somewhere. They were not designed to be bullet resistant to my knowledge.
