This confuses me a bit. I'm not sure of the difference between good and spectacular. If it stops the fight and saves one from harm the result is nothing short of "Stellar". The rating might better be "functional" vs. "non functional"
I don't use +P ammunition as an unexpanded .45 is still far better than an expanded 9mm. I have killed a number of animals in the 150 to 250 pound range with the standard .45 Auto load, and they don't get any deader than dead.
