What will happen to our beloved xd's if they pass a high capacity ban? Every xd I have seen carries over 10 rounds of ammunition. I fear that these guns will be banned.... Thoughts anyone?

If Feinstein gets her way ....

Summary of 2013 legislation

Following is a summary of the 2013 legislation:
  • Bans the sale, transfer, importation, or manufacturing of:
    • 120 specifically-named firearms;
    • Certain other semiautomatic rifles, handguns, shotguns that can accept a detachable magazine and have one or more military characteristics; and
    • Semiautomatic rifles and handguns with a fixed magazine that can accept more than 10 rounds.
  • Strengthens the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban and various state bans by:
    • Moving from a 2-characteristic test to a 1-characteristic test;
    • Eliminating the easy-to-remove bayonet mounts and flash suppressors from the characteristics test; and
    • Banning firearms with “thumbhole stocks” and “bullet buttons” to address attempts to “work around” prior bans.
  • Bans large-capacity ammunition feeding devices capable of accepting more than 10 rounds.
  • Protects legitimate hunters and the rights of existing gun owners by:
    • Grandfathering weapons legally possessed on the date of enactment;
    • Exempting over 900 specifically-named weapons used for hunting or sporting purposes; and
    • Exempting antique, manually-operated, and permanently disabled weapons.
  • Requires that grandfathered weapons be registered under the National Firearms Act, to include:
    • Background check of owner and any transferee;
    • Type and serial number of the firearm;
    • Positive identification, including photograph and fingerprint;
    • Certification from local law enforcement of identity and that possession would not violate State or local law; and
    • Dedicated funding for ATF to implement registration.
The old ban required 2 of the listed evil features, her new proposed ban requires only one.

Semi-automatic rifles able to accept detachable magazines and two or more of the following:
Semi-automatic pistols with detachable magazines and two or more of the following:
  • Magazine that attaches outside the pistol grip
  • Threaded barrel to attach barrel extender, flash suppressor, handgrip, or suppressor
  • Barrel shroud that can be used as a hand-hold
  • Unloaded weight of 50 oz (1.4 kg) or more
  • A semi-automatic version of a fully automatic firearm.
Semi-automatic shotguns with two or more of the following:
  • Folding or telescoping stock
  • Pistol grip
  • Fixed capacity of more than 5 rounds
  • Detachable magazine
So, unless you have a threaded barrel XD the pistol itself should be fine, but there's nothing in there that allows of grandfathering in 'hicap' mags.
Feinstein should probably add ray guns and fusion bomb launchers to her radical list too..HAHA! We all need to contact our congressman and senators and let them know the obvious..SHE is NUTS! Can you imagine a Ruger Ranch rifle being banned? M1A rifles being banned? And the requirement to register such arms and pay a $200 fee to the government? Per Weapon!! And on top of that, requiring your spouse to hand over such guns when you die? I think that as far as it stands now, we need to take serious action..telling those in power that the registering of mental ill patients would make much more sense making it harder for those people to gain access. You know, they always go after the law abiding citizen. It is their easy, feel good way to attack the problem. And as far as Obama is concerned..you were warned! If you voted him in you share the blame..just my two cents.

I did not vote for Obama, but.....
Just for the record, Mitt Romney was an adamant supporter of an assault weapon ban
semi automactic pistols:
Unloaded weight of 50 oz (1.4 kg) or more
What's the UNLOADED weight of any XD/XDm,Glock/M&P pistol????????

A semi-automatic version of a fully automatic firearm. Glock 17??? there is a FA G-18

Rifles
Grenade Launchers?
(more precisely, a muzzle device that enables launching or firing rifle grenades, though this applies only to muzzle mounted grenade launchers and not those mounted externally).

Name the last act of violence commited with one? PLEASE

Why doesn't she just admit she wants ALL guns confiscated.

Rant over, just bought slightly used a xd 13rd mag for $25, new ones here are $44+

Romney was but he would not have included such weapons as the Mini 14/30..M1A, or others. And I am quite sure he would not have proposed the requirement of registering grandfathered in weapons. You know what would be nice? A proper definition of an Assault Weapon. As it stands now, they include all black rifles, AK's, and others but.. none of these are true assault weapons. Name me one SWAT member or Military person who would use a non-select fire weapon in battle. I venture to say..NONE. Look a like AR's and such are not assault weapons in any way, shape or form. Gun Banners need to know that. Just sayin"!!!
Assault weapon is such a BS politically charged word. Anything that looks scary to them and has one of those evil detachable hi capacity 'clips' has to be good for nothing but mass murder and should be illegal :rolleyes:

The fact is no gun control, common sense gun control as they call it, will ever do anything to curb the violence of gangs or mentally unstable individuals or any other criminals for that matter. The only thing that comes from 'common sense' gun control is making good people decide if they want to become outlaws or they want to give up the freedom to defend themself and their family.
Just remember that banning ANY weapon is just the beginning. They will start with so called "assault" guns such as AR's and AK's...basically anything they saw in a movie. But if a perp can't get those anymore, they will choose a semi-auto BAR hunting rifle....or semi auto shotgun with sabot slugs....and then we will be looking at a ban of ALL semi-auto guns. After that, some perp will use a pump shotgun to great effect...and they will come after those too. Then one day a perp will use a single shot or double gun to great effect and they will come after those. Just because there was a crime or two committed with guns doesn't make us all criminals who aren't allowed to own guns!!!!! Why are we going to ALLOW THIS??? IT CAN'T BE ALLOWED. The whole gist of this is to take all guns away from the people so we can't defend ourselves...first rule in the communist playbook. THAT is the REAL AGENDA folks. Don't be fooled by the false propaganda of "saving our children". It's a scam..don't fall for it.

Forgive me, I may be a little slow however, as far as I understand our gun rites are not the government or anyone elses to give or take. Our gun rites are gaurentied us by our Constsitution and the founders of our great nation along with free speech, religion, privacy among others.
Just a few thoughts from our founding fathers on guns and arms.

"I ask, Sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people. To disarm the people is the best and most effectual way to enslave them."
George Mason
Co-author of the Second Amendment
during Virginia's Convention to Ratify the Constitution, 1788

"The people are not to be disarmed of their weapons. They are left in full posession of them."
Zachariah Johnson
Elliot's Debates, vol. 3 "The Debates in the Several State Conventions on the Adoption of the Federal Constitution."

"And that the said Constitution be never construed to authorize Congress to infringe the just liberty of the Press, or the rights of Conscience; or to prevent the people of the United States, who are peaceable citizens, from keeping their own arms; …"
Samuel Adams
quoted in the Philadelphia Independent Gazetteer, August 20, 1789, "Propositions submitted to the Convention of this State"

"The supposed quietude of a good man allures the ruffian; while on the other hand arms, like laws, discourage and keep the invader and plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as property. The same balance would be preserved were all the world destitute of arms, for all would be alike; but since some will not, others dare not lay them aside … Horrid mischief would ensue were the law-abiding deprived of the use of them."
Thomas Paine

"To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them."
Richard Henry Lee
American Statesman, 1788

"Are we at last brought to such humiliating and debasing degradation, that we cannot be trusted with arms for our defense? Where is the difference between having our arms in possession and under our direction and having them under the management of Congress? If our defense be the real object of having those arms, in whose hands can they be trusted with more propriety, or equal safety to us, as in our own hands?"
Patrick Henry
American Patriot

"Those who hammer their guns into plowshares will plow for those who do not."
Thomas Jefferson
Third President of the United States

"The constitutions of most of our States assert that all power is inherent in the people; that … it is their right and duty to be at all times armed; … "
Thomas Jefferson
letter to Justice John Cartwright, June 5, 1824. ME 16:45.

"The greatest danger to American freedom is a government that ignores the Constitution."
Thomas Jefferson
Third President of the United States

"What country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance. Let them take arms."
Thomas Jefferson
to James Madison

"The ruling class doesn't care about public safety. Having made it very difficult for States and localities to police themselves, having left ordinary citizens with no choice but to protect themselves as best they can, they now try to take our guns away. In fact they blame us and our guns for crime. This is so wrong that it cannot be an honest mistake."
Malcolm Wallop
former U.S. Sen. (R-WY)

"The right of the people to keep and bear...arms shall not be infringed. A well regulated militia, composed of the body of the people, trained to arms, is the best and most natural defense of a free country..." (James Madison, I Annals of Congress 434 [June 8, 1789])

"What, Sir, is the use of a militia? It is to prevent the establishment of a standing army, the bane of liberty.... Whenever Governments mean to invade the rights and liberties of the people, they always attempt to destroy the militia, in order to raise an army upon their ruins." (Rep. Elbridge Gerry of Massachusetts, spoken during floor debate over the Second Amendment [ I Annals of Congress at 750 {August 17, 1789}])

"Americans have the right and advantage of being armed - unlike the citizens of other countries whose governments are afraid to trust the people with arms." (James Madison, The Federalist Papers #46 at 243-244)

"...but if circumstances should at any time oblige the government to form an army of any magnitude, that army can never be formidable to the liberties of the people, while there is a large body of citizens, little if at all inferior to them in discipline and use of arms, who stand ready to defend their rights..." (Alexander Hamilton speaking of standing armies in Federalist 29.)

Apparently someone needs to remind our elected officials of that

Since WHEN did Obama and the Libs let a little thing like the CONSTITUTION get in their way?
My point exactly. Unfortunatly to many citizens are ready to give up freedom for free stuff. Those of us that have a clue will have a real strugle to protect this country from the clueless.
This gun ban is pointless. What happened when the last ban was law?

Answer: columbine

Someone who is going to shoot a place up doesn't care about gun laws. This is congresses way to deweaponize the country so they can do what they want without the possibility of a civil war. I don't know about anyone else on these forums but I will never hand over any firearms that I "legally" bought and own. This is the next step on their agenda after we all go register our grandfathered firearms.
Do you think Obama and the crowd really care about the safety of our kids or us, he's nixed the NRA's idea of arming our schools, nothing about mental health issues and getting mental patients off the streets. He's only going after more of our rights with no other viable solutions.

Mr. Obama & Madam Fienstien you have protection 24/7/365 (Mrs.Fienstien you have a Carry permit which you believe the rest of us should not have) and if you really believe guns are so evil please get rid of yours and have the Secret Service do the same.

"WE THE PEOPLE" are NOT here to serve you the Government, you are supposed to be serving us.
