If Feinstein gets her way ....

Summary of 2013 legislation

Following is a summary of the 2013 legislation:
  • Bans the sale, transfer, importation, or manufacturing of:
    • 120 specifically-named firearms;
    • Certain other semiautomatic rifles, handguns, shotguns that can accept a detachable magazine and have one or more military characteristics; and
    • Semiautomatic rifles and handguns with a fixed magazine that can accept more than 10 rounds.
  • Strengthens the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban and various state bans by:
    • Moving from a 2-characteristic test to a 1-characteristic test;
    • Eliminating the easy-to-remove bayonet mounts and flash suppressors from the characteristics test; and
    • Banning firearms with “thumbhole stocks” and “bullet buttons” to address attempts to “work around” prior bans.
  • Bans large-capacity ammunition feeding devices capable of accepting more than 10 rounds.
  • Protects legitimate hunters and the rights of existing gun owners by:
    • Grandfathering weapons legally possessed on the date of enactment;
    • Exempting over 900 specifically-named weapons used for hunting or sporting purposes; and
    • Exempting antique, manually-operated, and permanently disabled weapons.
  • Requires that grandfathered weapons be registered under the National Firearms Act, to include:
    • Background check of owner and any transferee;
    • Type and serial number of the firearm;
    • Positive identification, including photograph and fingerprint;
    • Certification from local law enforcement of identity and that possession would not violate State or local law; and
    • Dedicated funding for ATF to implement registration.

The old ban required 2 of the listed evil features, her new proposed ban requires only one.

Semi-automatic rifles able to accept detachable magazines and two or more of the following:
Semi-automatic pistols with detachable magazines and two or more of the following:
  • Magazine that attaches outside the pistol grip
  • Threaded barrel to attach barrel extender, flash suppressor, handgrip, or suppressor
  • Barrel shroud that can be used as a hand-hold
  • Unloaded weight of 50 oz (1.4 kg) or more
  • A semi-automatic version of a fully automatic firearm.
Semi-automatic shotguns with two or more of the following:
  • Folding or telescoping stock
  • Pistol grip
  • Fixed capacity of more than 5 rounds
  • Detachable magazine

So, unless you have a threaded barrel XD the pistol itself should be fine, but there's nothing in there that allows of grandfathering in 'hicap' mags.

Feinstein should probably add ray guns and fusion bomb launchers to her radical list too..HAHA! We all need to contact our congressman and senators and let them know the obvious..SHE is NUTS! Can you imagine a Ruger Ranch rifle being banned? M1A rifles being banned? And the requirement to register such arms and pay a $200 fee to the government? Per Weapon!! And on top of that, requiring your spouse to hand over such guns when you die? I think that as far as it stands now, we need to take serious action..telling those in power that the registering of mental ill patients would make much more sense making it harder for those people to gain access. You know, they always go after the law abiding citizen. It is their easy, feel good way to attack the problem. And as far as Obama is concerned..you were warned! If you voted him in you share the blame..just my two cents.
I did not vote for Obama, but.....
Just for the record, Mitt Romney was an adamant supporter of an assault weapon ban

Assault weapon is such a BS politically charged word. Anything that looks scary to them and has one of those evil detachable hi capacity 'clips' has to be good for nothing but mass murder and should be illegal :rolleyes:

The fact is no gun control, common sense gun control as they call it, will ever do anything to curb the violence of gangs or mentally unstable individuals or any other criminals for that matter. The only thing that comes from 'common sense' gun control is making good people decide if they want to become outlaws or they want to give up the freedom to defend themself and their family.

Apparently someone needs to remind our elected officials of that

Forgive me, I may be a little slow however, as far as I understand our gun rites are not the government or anyone elses to give or take. Our gun rites are gaurentied us by our Constsitution and the founders of our great nation along with free speech, religion, privacy among others.
