XD Mod 2 shell in kit

Why there is a 9mm shell with the firing pin mark in my kit? Maybe a proof of gun tested?

That's correct.
It shows the gun has been tested and functions.
Should be a date when it was performed too.

A few manufacturers do the same...my Glock came with two in a small manila enevelope.
