I just bought a xd9 service model used and it didnt come with the gear just wondering if I should get a xd gear holster or if its not worth it what holster to go with lookin at otw holsters.

Xd gear holster is a bare bones holster. Poor retention, poor draw and doesn't cover the length of the slide. I don't recommend it unless it is all you have. I can recommend 3 very good holsters that I use regularly.

I would get a quality kydex OWB holster. For open carry, I would reccomend the Comptac International. For CCW, while I have a thread looking for that too!

I like the AlienGear IWBand OWB holsters. Used others for years, but these new AlienGear holsters are really nice.

Yes. I tried it for CC and IDPA. I did not like the paddle, it is a weird design and was a pain. Also, the SERPA really affected my draw from cover. I ended up returning it because it did not fit my philosophy of use.

I think it is better suited for open carry.
