I haven't had a 45 ACP in about a year now, the 45's I've had were 1911 platform or a Glock, and nothing wrong with either. The 1911 platform fit my hand better than the Glock. I've had the hankering for another .45 so for the last several months I've been researching and looking, and even in the past year there are enough new pistols on the market to boggle your mind. Yesterday my buddy called me to come and look at a XDM 3.8 he had just put out for sale, like new condition with the gear package. It fit me like a glove, the 3.8 inch barrel feels and looks actually bigger than it is. With the 9 and 13 round mags this is a real powerhouse. I should get a chance to shoot it tomorrow and give you a followup then. If it shoots as good as it looks and as much as I like the new platform I'll be one happy 45 owner again.

I had a 9mm XDM for a while, and it was a dream! But it functioned (for me) as a range gun, and I eventually traded it in on a Service (4") XD Mod2 in 9mm which I carry, every day.

At my age (I'm so old, my Social Security Number is 3! And SS still pays me in Confederate money!), a 45 is just a bit too much recoil...
