Anyone buy a 45 originally and move to a 9mm, or have both?

Can you weigh in on what you like about both, maybe more specifically the 9mm?

Thanks

My first experience with a .45 was in the Army. It is indeed an impressive weapon.

But I now daily carry a 9mm (XD Mod2 Service 4"). Recent technological improvement in ammunition has made 9mm hollow-point acceptably powerful (for me)...

9mm ammo's lower cost and lesser recoil - an important consideration for old fogies like me - along with the XD's larger magazine capacity... made "downsizing" a reasonable decision.

I also carry a 9mm Sig P938 because it is very small and I slip it in and out of my pocket easily.
I reload my ammo and one thing I found that was strange about reloading is the 45 and 9mm usually call for the same amount of powder but the 45 reload always has more recoil because of the larger bullet. I'm figuring the extra recoil also equates to extra impact when the bullet hits the target. So I usually carry the 45 unless I can't dress where I can wear it then it's the 9mm...

Thanks guys -
I have the XDs 45 and a XD9 Mod2, but was thinking it would be handy to have a single stack 9, if I have some extra $ at some point.

I looked at the Sig P938 as well, smaller still and easy to conceal. I'm guessing the XDs 9 might be a better shooter than the P938 due to a bit larger and more specifically more weight. And the XDs 9 is about $230 cheaper than the P938 near me ....
