Drew Herbst from Springfield Arms said they are hoping to start shipping out the XDs 9mm in the second quarter of 2013. I can't wait!!
I never received a reply.

I read an article during SHOT that someone said they shot the .40 version of the XDS, I can't remember where I read it. Has anyone heard anything about the .40 version of this weapon? If there is a .40 coming out down the line which I would have to imagine can't be far off from the 9mm I would rather wait and buy it...

I have had my XD 9mm for over two years and absolutely love it. I find it too big for conceal carry and carry a Kel-Tec PF9 for that purpose. I tell everyone that shooting the XD is like driving the most expensive Mercedes and shooting the PF9 is like driving a old beat up Yugo. I carried a M1911 for over 25 years and find the XD more comfortable and easier to shoot. For open carry the XD is superb and I will be happy to match it against any Glock or similar weapon in the market..

I love my XD .40.. may have to check into one of these XD 9mm's. What's the price range?
Price and availability hasn't been set yet.
Supposedly about the same as the 45 model but expect prices to be higher due to demand.

Here are some of the specs:

  • Nearly identical specifications as the XDs, but in 9mm
  • Barrel – Melonite, fully supported ramp
  • Sights – Fiber Optic Front, Dovetail (Steel) Rear
  • Slide – Forged Steel with Melonite finish
  • Frame – Black Polymer
  • Magazines – (2) Stainless Steel
  • Standard capacity of 7+1, but has optional extended magazine making 10+1
  • Should be available by 2nd quarter 2013
  • MSRP will be around the XDs price

Sounds like all 3 will share dimensions, from what I've heard of the XDs-9 it's the same exact chassis setup.

roog

I believe you are right on that one except the recoil spring is different and that is why there is a slight delay in the 9mm coming out. I believe they were having some issues with the same recoil spring so they had to redesign the recoil spring to accommodate the lower recoil from the 9mm.
